Telecom Penetration in Nepal hits 95%

The latest telecom statistics in Nepal published by Nepal Telecommunications are impressive. Telecom penetration rate has shoot up to 95.28% from 93.69%, in just one month, which shows a dramatic increase in number of telecom-services subscribers with 421,350 coming within that period. Ncell remains the market leader in voice telephony services with 48% followed by NTC with 45%, which has remained unchanged. On the other hand, NTC remains the leader in data-servies with 53% market share, followed by Ncell with 45%. Internet penetration rate has also increased to 34.09% from 33.76%.

The biggest winner in terms of data services in this one month has to be Nepal Telecom where is has seen significant rise in its ADSL subscription and

It still remains a question as to whether these statistics are representative of the actual scenario because of several factors such as population on which the study is based on, the number of inactive SIM cards and the number of people using multiple SIM cards.
