Here’s a good news for all: There might be a drastic decrease in the load shedding hours. Top Bahadur Raymajhi, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Energy has said that there would be only 3-5 hours of load shedding per day from Nepali New year (mid-April). He also said that the load shedding hours will be reduced to zero from mid-April 2017.

Construction of a series of hydropower projects functioning as Budhi Gandaki, Naumure, Nalsinghgadh, Upper Arun and Sunkoshi will begin soon. Minister Raymajhi termed it as a master plan. “Works are carried out in a smooth and effective way according to the master plan to end power crisis,” Rayamajhi said.
The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) bought quanta of electricity from its southern neighbor earlier this year.
He also asserted that the government would not have to face energy crisis anytime in the future as the changes brought in the sector of energy are ardent. “I have laid a strong foundation,” he said at an interaction organized at the Reporters’ Club in the Capital on Saturday. He added, “The works will not be hampered with the change in government.”
“We will be able to export electricity within a couple of years,” he said.
Minister Raymajhi also recounted that Nepal will have enough energy source to start exporting electricity within the next two years.
He also added that he was going to ensure that the construction of forth coming big hydro projects was completed in no time at all.
