Honda Scooter Diva Cup II

Racing is not for everyone. The second ‘Honda Scooter Diva Cup’, 2014 is scheduled on Saturday, May 3 at Syakar Safety Riding Training Center, Gwarko. The event will start at 10 am where the female scooter riders will compete with each other. The riders will need to finish different rounds on the basis of laps that they are given. The top three contestants will be handed with the prize along with the title of ‘Scooter Diva 2014’. The event has been organized by Monster Bash Entertainments and Syakar Trading Company with a prime view to create awareness regarding the importance of road safety among the participants and the onlookers.
The program will include Tri-combo action along with B-boying performances. Furthermore, it includes celebrity scooter race session featuring renowned beauty pageants. They will compete with each other to become the first ‘Honda Celebrity Scooter Diva’. There will be a musical performance and challenging racing tracks to elevate people’s excitement. Also, multiple food stalls and games will be kept for everyone.


2013 was the year when scooter race was organized for the first time in Nepal for female. Last year, Dikshya Shrestha won the title marking a victory in women motor sports in Nepal. The excitement and participation of the crowd from the past created a sequel for organizing Honda Diva Cup this year too. The motive of the event remains the women riders’ safety on the roads keeping the road scenario of Nepal in mind.

International Girls in ICT Day 2014, Nepal

International Girls in ICT Day is celebrated worldwide to encourage and raise awareness among girls and young women to build their career in Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs). It is also an initiative backed by ITU (International Telecommunication Union) Member States in Plenipotentiary Resolution 70 (Guadalajara, 2010) that enlightens women regarding their opportunities in the IT sectors in the global context. The directive of ITU is to set unified standards globally and address issues that are raised with the technological development. It is celebrated on 4th Thursday of April every year. In the context of Nepal, it will be observed on 24th April, 2014 this year.



This day is celebrated worldwide where the organizers find new and innovative ways to raise awareness about the opportunities in ICT sector. Women empowerment is a broad issue and this is one of many ways to emphasize this context globally. In 2013, over 40,000 girls and women participated in the celebration of International Girls in ICT Day in 121 countries worldwide where over 1,500 events were held.  It is expected that this event will continue to grow with more than 200 countries participating in organizing events hosted by governments, private sectors and NGOs this year.
ITU established ‘Girls in ICT Day’ in 2010. In the context of Nepal, it was celebrated for the first time in the year of 2013. The event will be hosted in Nepal on 24th April, 2014 in collaboration with Nepal Telecom Authority (NTA), Ministry of Information Communication and organizing partners Equal Access Nepal. The event will be taken to some of the selected districts of Nepal along with the central event itself. According to Pankaj Chhetri, the ICT manager at Equal Access Nepal, the technical skill and qualification in women can make them take significant opportunities in the ICT sector as it is growing rapidly in the global context.

Chitwan Hero 2070

Chitwan Hero 2070 is an event that is going to be organized at Chitwan, the fifth largest city of Nepal, with the view to find a true talent who can represent oneself as a pride to this place. This event is organized by Business Lahar National Weekly Newspaper. Chitwan means ‘the heart of the jungle’. Likewise, this is an event looking for someone who can be the heart of the place. 

There are 91 participants in this event who represent various sectors of Administration, Law, Politics, Social Work, Social Youth Leaders, Business, Education, Health, Literature and Art and so on. From these varied sectors participation, the results will show the strong influence of particular sector over the mass.
